What we call a moving van
In practice the word covers two sizes: the roughly 5 m³ compact van, which is still a raised car, and the 12–14 m³ van, the true workhorse of small moves. Both drive with a category B licence and park without acrobatics.

The in-between format: big enough for a studio or a two-room flat, nimble enough for the city and covered car parks.
- Compact vans pass under the bars of underground car parks — something no box truck does.
- Automatic gearbox available, contained size: a first move goes better than with a truck.
- For a studio, a student room or a furniture pick-up, half a day is often enough.
When the van is enough
A studio, a room, a lightly furnished two-room flat, a furniture pick-up from a private seller, equipment transport: in all these cases, 12–14 m³ do the job, and the vehicle stays easy to place in front of the building.
Two electric vans
Two vehicles of the fleet are electric. In town and on short trips they do the same work in silence and with no fuel to top up — useful when the move happens early in the morning or late at night.
The questions we get asked
- Does a van fit into an underground car park?
- The compact vans do: they stay under two metres. The 12–14 m³ vans and the box trucks do not. Check the height posted at the entrance before booking.
- What volume for a studio?
- A furnished studio usually fits in 12 m³, often less. The 5 m³ compact van suits a room or a few pieces of furniture.
