Which utility vehicle to choose?
Three sizes, three uses. The right choice comes down to three questions: the volume to move, the height of the access, and what heavy things need loading.
- A studio fits in 12 m³, a three-room flat in 20. Underestimate it and you make two trips — and two trips always cost more than the size above.
- Only the compact van passes under the two metres of underground car parks. If loading happens in a basement, the volume question comes after this one.
- Appliances, machines, pallets: without a tail lift, everything gets carried. The tail lift only exists on the box trucks.
The van — 12 to 14 m³
The heart of the fleet, and the right default choice. Enough to empty a studio or a two-room flat in one trip, a three-room flat in two. Comes in diesel and electric, manual and automatic. It is over two metres tall: surface access.
The box truck — up to 20 m³
The big volume, loaded without carrying: covered bed, tail lift, up to eight pallets. A three-to-four-room flat in one trip. It stays under 3.5 tonnes, so category B — but it is tall, and it needs room to manoeuvre.
The questions we get asked
- Which licence for a 20 m³ vehicle?
- Category B. Our box trucks stay under 3.5 tonnes of authorised total weight, which is the car licence limit in Switzerland.
- What is the difference between a van and a box truck?
- The van is enclosed and loads from the rear and the side; the box truck has a covered bed and a tail lift, and takes more volume. The van goes where the truck cannot; the truck lifts what the van cannot.
- Should I take unlimited kilometres?
- It depends on the distance. The daily flat rate becomes worthwhile as soon as you leave the canton or multiply the rotations; for a local move, the per-kilometre count comes out cheaper.
- Can I change vehicle at the last minute?
- Call us. If the booked size turns out too small or too big, we adjust when availability allows.
